Adjectives set to music- Students broaden their knowledge about adjectives through using them to describe both objects and music.
Adverbily - The students will understand that an adverb of manner describes the action of a verb through student use of Total Physical Response (TPR).
Alphabet - In this lesson Kindergarten and 1st graders use a free software program to learn the alphabet.
Alphabet Game - Knowledge of the alphabet is essential to beginning reading.  This activity is a way to reinforce these skills with young children in a fun way.
Black History Month - This PowerPoint template can be used either to make a presentation to your students, or students can make the presentation for the rest of the class.
Book Reports - This is a collection of book reports based on Gardner's 8 types of intelligences.
Casey at the Bat - The learner will generate words to describe Casey: words to describe how Casey feels before and after he strikes out, similes, a similar experience to Casey's, a network of ideas which show what happened from Casey's point of view, and will then pantomime hitting a home run and striking out.
Character Analysis - Students can visualize a character or event from a story or book and then personalize it through drawings.
Character maps - Using popular trade books students create a character map by first working on their own, and then in small groups. Students then share their work with the whole class.

Group Story - In this activity, students write creative stories in a round robin-type activity.
Irritating Creatures - This poetry lesson is designed to encourage students to think about and evaluate the meaning of a poem.  It also encourages students to be original and creative in their thinking.

Poetry Cubes
- This lesson can be used during holidays, seasons, or themes to show how diverse and exciting poetry can be.
Propaganda Techniques - The purpose of this activity is to expose students to five different propaganda techniques.  This activity will allow them to become commercial directors using one or more propaganda techniques.
Read-In
- Students, coming together for an education, need opportunities to develop relationships and understanding of other students.  This project covers many language arts concepts and skills at each learner's level of competency.  It inspires joy in reading books to a captive audience and pride in work well done. Older students discover the need to write purposefully, descriptively and clearly for a younger audience.
School News - In this activity, students produce a news broadcast for the rest of the school to watch.
Story Pyramid- In this activity, students create a pyramid by describing story elements.
Successful Paragraphs - This activity guides students through the writing process for a successful five-sentence paragraph with
varied sentence beginnings. Repeating this process frequently with many, varied topics teaches students to use variety to create interesting paragraphs.
