Adverbily
- The students will understand that an adverb of manner describes the action of a verb through student use of Total Physical Response (TPR). Although this lesson plan is designed for 4th grade, it could be something fun for upper grades as well.
Black History Month

Book Reports
- This is a collection of book reports based on Gardner's 8 types of intelligences
Character Analysis - Students can visualize a character or event from a story or book and then personalize it through drawings. .
Character Traits - In this activity, students "become" one of the major characters in a book and describe themselves and other characters, using lists of accurate, powerful adjectives. In class discussion, students support their lists with details from the novel.
Expository Writing - Human beings use hand-to-hand touch between individuals to convey a wide range of affective communication. This lesson uses examples of such communication as a springboard for practice in expository writing.
Figurative Language
- This SIOP-based lesson plan is designed so that students identify and formulate literal and figurative descriptions of familiar objects.
Group Story - In this activity, students write creative stories in a round robin-type activity.
